First I must say that this is easily the best zombie/survival horror I've ever played. Yes, there are some bugs and I have lost hours worth of gameplay, but I do not care. This game is a blast and being set back lead me to more quests and weapons I missed. A patch has been released, but I haven't noticed any changes in the saving issue.

STORYLINE:
You play as 1 of 4 characters. You wake up in a hotel of a paradise-like island and discover that something is very wrong. The hotel is a mess and evacuated. You are contacted by an unknown survivor who leads you out of the hotel. You take refuge into a shack where others have gathered. Residents are sick, hungry, and hostile and you are one of few who is immune to the infection. The survivors are frightened and in-shock and it's up to you to help get everyone off the island.

COMBAT GAMEPLAY:
I consider this a survival horror. Firearms are uncommon, but there are countless melee weapons such as paddles, crowbars, machetes, broomsticks, pipes, and much more. The more you use your weapons, the faster they break. With a price, you can repair, upgrade, and modify your weapons. I have used electrical machetes, spiked baseball bats, and flaming broom sticks. There are many weapon mods that will increase your survivability.

FIGHTING MECHANICS:
If I could compare the fighting mechanics to any game, it would be Oblivion, but with precision. If I beat their heads with a blunt weapon, their neck can break. If I slash at their arms with a machete, I can cut their arms off and prevent them from punching me. There is a kicking ability that costs no stamina, so you can knock down a zombie, then you can finish them off while they're down.

There is a stamina bar, so you can't just go on a swinging spree or storm passed all the zombies. Each time you swing, jump, or sprint, you lose stamina. It recovers very fast, but losing all your stamina in the middle of a horde of zombies can cost you your life.

RPG ELEMENTS:
There are three talent trees: Fury, Combat, and Survival. Each character has unique talents that makes each character important in their own way. Each time you level, you can put another point into your talents and build their fighting style the way you want. You can have expertise in blunt weapons, sharp weapons, and firearms. You can also increase your survivability against those tough zombies.

MISSIONS:
They clearly took time to write these missions out. Unlike common mmorpgs, this isn't about killing a number of enemies or collecting a number of items, then turning it in. Each mission is unique. For example, you need to complete a "HELP" sign using boxes, you need to go into a dangerous zone to turn on generators, collect inhalers and other types of medicine for people. People are in very vulnerable states and you get to be the hero of the day and give everyone hope. The style of doing missions and traveling around the map reminds me of borderlands. You start in one area, then complete missions that lead you to the next. I love the open world environment.

CHARACTERS DESIGNS:
I'm about 10 hours into the game and every zombie is unique besides a couple of the more difficult zombies. I am not seeing any repetition in this game at all and it keeps me very interested. Although I have only seen about 6 types of zombies, they all have different faces, clothing, and sometimes missing body parts. Zombies scale with your level, so you can't go back to the starting area and just wreck everything.

MULTIPLAYER:
This is 4 player campaign co-op. Drop-in and drop-out. You can set private slots for your friends. Regardless of having the same mission as the host, you will get experience when they complete it. I know you can join people who are ahead of you, but I haven't tested to see if a high level character can help a low level character.

The best part of the co-op feature is the lobby-free system. You can manually look for games, but if there's a player who is around the same missions as you, it will tell you. With 1 click of a button you'll be placed with the best teammate for your level. If the player is ahead of you and completes a mission, you will get a lot of experience for the mission, but it will not save to your profile. Both players must be on the same missions for it to save to your data.

There is no split-screen for 1 obvious reason. Systems simply can't handle it. I honestly don't know why people are giving the game 1 star because the developers have to work around the hardware. If it was possible, there would be split-screen co-op for a lot of games, but there's so much content to render and framerate issues on single-player, it would just fry systems if it needed to render everything x2.

I'll admit that I had my doubts on this one, even after reading all I could find on it and watching trailer after trailer of graphical zombie goodness. It turns out that, so far, this is the most fun I've had playing a game this year. I currently about 10 hours in playing it and have just found some guns. Yes, it does take a bit of time to acquire guns and ammo is somewhat scarce, but this adds a whole new element that melee doesn't. It took me about 2 or 3 hours to get used to the controls and menus and such. Select pulls up your map. Up on the D-pad pulls up your inventory. There is a bit of experimenting to be done with Dead Island before it becomes second nature as the instruction manual is very lackluster and there are no in-game tutorials. But don't let that detract you from this superb zombie game!

The graphics looks amazing on my 47" LED TV. The music is quite diverse and fits the mood of the game perfectly. You can play as one of 4 players, but choose wisely because each one has a different skill path they can embark upon. Let me also say this: This is a MAMMOTH of a game as far as length is concerned. By the time you go through the main campaign and all of the side quests I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it ended up being a 30 hour affair! Fine by me! The more the merrier.

To me, what really stands out with this game is how fun and addicting it is. Once you get going and figure out the basics, putting down the controller is the equivalent of a crack addict going cold turkey. I couldn't stand waiting for my copy from Amazon to come via UPS today, so I went to GameStop at midnight last night, got it, then went brain dead(pun intended) for 6 hours straight, slept for about 3 hours and played another 4 more. I'll lose return shipping sending it back, but it'll be worth it knowing I've already gotten to play a large chunk of the game. Needless to say, I had to take a break from my 2nd assault on Banoi Island because my eyes were/are still burning. But what amazing fun the game is and I'm sure will continue to be! There are certain times where you have to use your brain to get out of hairy situations and it will get your pulse racing. The fall onslaught of games is upon us and Dead Island starts off the assault with a BANG!

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if this ends up being a sleeper hit, since the developer(Deep Silver?) is not well known and they did have a huge budget with which to promote the game. What they achieved with the limited resources they had is nothing short of amazing. Go buy this now!

Small Disclaimer: I have not yet finished the game but feel I have experienced it enough to give an accurate description of mechanics, atmosphere etc. There are no spoilers in this review. If me reviewing the game before completing is a problem for you then please stop reading here.

It's truly difficult to talk about Dead Island and do it any justice. This is an experience, one that each player will make unique for his or herself. I can't tell you how sprinting away from a horde of infected and listening to them screaming in rage as they give chase makes you feel. Or locking yourself in a bungalow, frantically searching for a couple of energy drinks just so you can descend a little further into the nightmare that is Dead Island.

It's those moments that make it so hard to describe. It's amazing how much this game changed me in the nine straight hours I played last night. The minute I was unleashed onto the breathtakingly beautiful Island Resort with only a paddle in hand I thought I had this game figured. At first I ran into every encounter headfirst, merrily swinging my paddle around like a manic zombie slayer. After being torn to shreds several times I rethought my strategy. I became a survivor. The enemies in this game are dangerous and relentless and melee combat is brutal and unforgiving. I will now avoid large mobs if I can and when I can't I am using my head and searching for a way out while trying to keep the zombies in front of me. I am no longer trying to rack up my kill combo; I am fighting to stay alive.

I could draw many comparisons on this game comparing it to the likes of fallout, borderlands, resident evil, dead rising, left 4 dead etc. But tons of other, better reviews have already done that and yes I will concede it does take things from all of those titles but the game itself is completely original for one big reason. It's the feelings you have when playing this game. Never in my life have I ever felt so much dread in rounding a corner praying I don't walk into a group of the infected. Then the sense of complete and utter hopelessness when I do, you back yourself into a corner and get ready to fight with whatever you have on hand and the sense of grim victory when you finally win the hard earned battle. Yes this game takes parts from all those games, but this isn't a game, this is an experience and I urge you to go in with that in mind. Now lets delve into what makes this game good and not so good:

Pros:

Combat:

The combat is what truly makes this game shine. You aren't a super hero or a generic soldier; you are an average person thrown into something bigger than his or herself. The infected will show you no mercy. If you are mobbed with them then you are as good as dead. If you run in swinging your stamina will deplete quickly and you will be left defenseless and you again, will die. You must be methodical in combat, use any advantage you can find. This game will not hold your hand, if you are outnumbered then you need to find the upper hand or flee.

The combat is gritty, realistic and satisfying. I feel like a human when I am fighting. If I am mobbed then I don't have a chance in landing a blow, being off balance makes you feel powerless and defenseless and rightfully so. But if I stay just out of reach by using tight alleys, obstacles and backing away I might get out of the battle alive.

Each infected reacts differently when struck; I might break a zombies arm sending it stumbling back into the rest of them buying me a moment or two to replenish lost stamina. I did this a couple of times and thought I had found a winning formula for the rest of the games mobs. The next battle I found myself in I broke the zombies arm only to have it lash out with the ruined limb and send me stumbling back allowing the rest of the creatures to move in for the kill. And kill me they did all because I got too complacent.

Now every time I walk into a fight I don't know what the outcome will be but I have learned to be careful. It's this that makes the game so exciting and engaging. I have never experienced such a savage glee smashing a zombies head only for it to cut into slow motion to show me the creature spinning through the air after a hard fought battle.

Zombies:

I'm giving these guys a category all of their own because they are so well done. They all look unique, you will never see the same creature in a mob and it really lends to the immersion of the game. I like how in the resort you will be fighting bikini clad beasts but the further you venture into the town you will find them sporting work clothes and gang wear. It again adds to the immersion.

The zombies aren't just eye candy they are also believable. In the combat section I wrote how well they reacted to me, but they also interact with the world in cool ways. Driving by zombies you... Read more

The Regular Xlerator Wheel Stand W/Xbox 360 Adapter does its job pretty well. It manages to keep my xbox steering wheel setup nice and neat in the corner of my apartment by folding upright. When its game time it folds into a nice comfortable position and I no longer have to worry about balancing the wheel on my lap and the pedals. My only criticism would be that the pedals do slip on the pedal stand a little bit. I'm trying to find a good way to secure the pedals. Also there was a horrible rubber toxic smell from the stoppers that took a few weeks to go away. I had to also get creative with the cable management. For the money and the function of the device I feel like it is still a great value for serious forza heads.

I highly recommend the wheel stand. It is extremely well built, and there is nothing flimsy about the stand at all. It is very comfortable to use when racing on a couch and when done racing, folds up nicely. When I attached my wheels and pedals, I was amazed to see how secured everything felt, even when bringing the unit in and out of storage.

This wheels stand really completes the racing experience without requiring additional furniture. Congrats to the team that made this stand!

I first bought a racing wheel for Gran Tourismo 4 on the PS2 but was quickly disappointed when I attached it to the coffee table and I couldn't get my legs under the table to work the pedals and my back hurt from hunching over.
For Forza Motorsports 3 I decided to buy this wheel stand and so far I am very happy with it. I bought it with the xbox wheel adapter, and while I was unsure when I was assembling it whether it would be sturdy enough against the force feedback of the wheel, all my fears were quickly allayed. The kit also came with two small screws to fasten the pedals onto the pan at the bottom, making the whole setup one peice of equipment. This is great because when I'm done racing , I fold up the pedal pan and put the stand, wheel, pedals and all in the closet upright and out of the way and all I have to unplug is the power cord. The stem of the main tube (right behind the wheel) has 3 length settings and the pedal pan has 3 height settings. I am 6'2" and this stand fits me. I am pretty thin, so the width of the lap bars is fine for me (18") but, as I have a long torso, I do wish the height of the lap bars were higher or adjustable on the normal stand (i believe they are on the big boy) as it is only 8". But overall it is a sturdy, well-made piece of equipment and it definitely completes the racing experience.

So your looking at buying an xbox? here is the experience i have had with mine:

I have had my xbox for a year and a half with no problems, well, i mean there was a frozen screen every now and then. but it was very rare.because of xboxes great graphics chip and CPU it can play the same quality game as the ones you can find on you PC. (which is better than the PS2 and Gamecube).

The design of the xbox is a little bulky, but at least it looks kinda cool.

In the past people have complained about faulty DVD disk drives. what they say WAS true, you see, Microsoft has made a NEW xbox system for the same price of 150. they made this system in march 2004.I have had my NEW xbox versian since it came out in march. and i have had no problems what so ever. and for the one person who wants 3 good games for the xbox..well here they are! Halo 2 (not on computer) Star Wars Nights of the old republic 2 and fusion Frenzy... thats only 3 but i can go on for days naming games like: Starwars republic commando, burnout revenge, half life 2, battlefront 1 & 2, KOTOR, project gothem 1 & 2 that are all good. one reviewer said that it is cheaper to buy a computer??? .... most computers cost around 500 dollars to get a decent one about the same quality of an xbox! and computer games arent 2 player unless you have more than 1 computer! so if you want to play xbox halo 1 2 player then you buy an xbox (150) and 1 extra controller (25) and halo (20) so that adds up to about 200

for a computer halo 2player you need 2 300 computers (600) 2 DIFFERENT disks of halo 1 (40) 640

so here is your choice... play halo1 2player with a computer and spend 640
or get halo1 for xbox 2player and spend 200. the choice is yours.

xbox holds more power than ps2 AND gamecube put together (well almost as much)! the xbox comes with 4 controller ports and a BUILT IN network adapter. Yes, with xbox live you pay 30 bucks a year.....but you can join clans talk to eachother play anyone anywhere And make friendslist and instant message with them!!! ps2 all you can do is instant message.... and with ps2 you need to buy a 100 dollar network adapter(NOT with the slimline edition)..so for the price of the adapter you can have 3 years of xbox live...'

and in 3 years from now, hmmmmm i would probibly alreadt have bought myself an xbox 360 or ps3 :)

I'm 21 and I'm in college. Some of the best parts of my life so far have been hanging out with friends and family playing games. When I was little the Super Nintendo was my favorite, then as I matured PC Games became an addiction. I never bought another console. That is until I played an X-Box at my friends house when I was 15. Now I own one, that I have moded with Linux X-Box Distro so I can play some PC Games on it as well, and an X-Box 360* (which is also moded with Linux X-Box Distro). These are the Nintendo systems of the new millennium. Great games for any kind of player, easy controls, and they're a blast for multi-player games (which seems like a specialty for X-Box that it does FAR better than the Wii or PS3).

To the previous reviewer that said Microsoft hated its customers I say this:

You bought your X-Box a month before the X-Box 360* was released!? Do you realize that the X-Box has been out since 2001!? Thats six years the system was out when you bought it and you STILL EXPECT M$ to support it!? Are you NUTS!? Did Nintendo, Sony, or SEGA ever support any of their old systems with NEW games when a new system came out? No!!! Neither does MS. A word of advice BUY A SYSTEM WHEN IT IS ***NEW*** IF YOU WANT ***NEW*** GAMES!

Reviewing a last-gen console a year+ after the latest came out, April 8, 2007

First things first, my initial reaction to reviewer jon "Sam" (MI):

"Moron." Imagine that, a company not supporting an obsolete system over a year after their hardware became obsolete.

Anyway, with that out of the way, the green Halo Edition X-Box is a good investment, providing you don't care that it's almost completely obsolete. It's a good value if all you want to do is play old games. I got mine in Spring '04 and from the time I got it to the time I got the 360 and sold the old one last week, I had absolutely no problems with it. It still runs great, even after a year in a college townhouse. If you want reliability and don't mind not having any new games to play, this console can't be beat.

Bottom line is this is well-built, although the little tabs that hold the adjustable pipes are cheaply-made, and I had to wrap them in a rag and use channel locks to loosen them so I could adjust the bar length. Other than that I've had no complaints about this brace/stand. Works as advertised. A little expensive for what you get, but comapared to what's on the market for the XBox 360 wheel, this is probably the best bet. I'd buy it again given the choice.

This wheel stand works very good ... is solid and hold the wheel in place. It's adjustable with 3 positions to accommodate various sizes, but I think the big boy would work for any adult. I use it with my PS3 Logitec wheel, and have yet to try the XBOX360 wheel adapter, but it looks like it would work fine. Assembly was quick and easy. I recommend this product.

I am currently stationed in Afghanistan and had my wife send over my old Xbox 360 (had to get it fixed just prior to my deployment) and it doesn't have the HDMI outputs, only component video. I purchased a low priced projector and screen from Amazon.com and got Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City for Christmas. The videos recommend use with HDMI, so I was a bit concerned about how they would work with only component video...and my opinion is that they work great! The games appear in 3D layering...would have been more cool if objects were actually flying at you, but they definately work as they are supposed to and I would highly recommend adding these for your gaming enjoyment. I would be interested in knowing other recommendations for games these glasses would work well with or movies (if you don't need a 3D player or TV).

this game is awesome, fun single player campaign. there is also a coop mode available on xbox live. Multiplayer is very fun lots of maps..But you have to purchase a "VIP" code to unlock all of the maps and game modes off of XBL if you purchase the Platinum Edition anyways.. Im not sure about other editions that are bought new..

I have to write this review because it deserved to be written and published for worldwide audience. I have played all God of War games except Ghost of Sparta since I no longer own a PSP. At the time when GOS came out I wanted to own and play the game but was thinking it is not worth forking out $$$ for a new PSP just to play the game. Contrary some might say it is worth the price and I would agree on that now after just having finish playing GOS on my PS3!

GOS is Grand and Epic in its entirety. For a PSP game to have such an over the top and jaw dropping visuals and game play for GOS is incredible. I felt like I was playing GOW4! Remastered for HD what else GOW fans want? 2 magnificent games on 1 blu ray and for 40 bucks! Thats a steal.

Chains of Olympus is another stellar game. I used to play this on PSP beating all difficulty levels and I must say that I had a blast! I had hope I would be able to play it on the big screen. And now? Big screen with HD visuals it is. I will enjoy this game like I used to enjoyed it. No complaints. Full of praise for Origins Collection.

For those who have not played the PSP games, I highly recommend you to get it. Your experience with GOW games will never be the same. Stunningly done for PS3 owners and available for worldwide GOW fans. GOW is the only series that is available on 1 exclusive platform PS3. 5 GOW games for the PS3. This is definitely a treat for gamers and especially GOW fans.

I don't own a PSP, so this is the first time I've played these 2 games.
I'll keep it short.

Pros:
Well, it's 2 God of War games in 1 disc, it's fun, and it's in HD. That pretty much sums it up.
The games are kinda short and have little less contents than their 3 bigger brothers, but not by much, so I don't count this as a con. You could finish both games, on Normal difficulty setting, within 10-12 hours. Not too short, in my opinion.

Cons:
- The puzzles can be unclear and get you stuck at times, so are the things you need to do in some boss fights.
- The worst enemy is the camera. It's not so bad on Normal, but it will get you killed a lot on God Mode, and also be a part that makes you stuck on puzzles.
- Chains of Olympus look just passable. They didn't redo any models or textures. It looks like a Playstation 1.8 game with a better rendering and anti-alias. The shadow casting doesn't look right in places.
Ghost of Sparta, on the other hand, looks quite a lot better.

In conclusion:
If you have never played these 2 games before, go for it. These are bite-sized God of War, but it's definitely a mouthful bite.
If you have never played any God of War before, then what have you been waiting for?

God Mode in Ghost of Sparta would probably make you want to stab your finger through your ear, and gouge your brain out, Kratos style.
I got stuck in one fight for 4 and a half hours, and I haven't been able to get pass it. Playing God Mode and Challenge Mode in both games could extend the play time up to 20 hours or more. Ghost's God Mode is harder than Normal Mode in Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Chains' God Mode is hard, but not as much.

Anyway, that's up to your skills. So if you're a casual gamer, like me, be warned. The frustration could easily turn a normal guy into The Hulk.

So, if you love to unlock everything, you'll get your money's worth. Though you may need some anger management sessions later.

I LOVE the God of War series with a passion in the same way a film lover loves the works of Ingmar Bergman/Alfred Hitchcock/Stanley Kubrick/Andrei Tarkovsky. As a matter of fact, it's easily my all time favorite game series. It's art direction, story line, characters, emotions, and game play are all among the cream of the crop. It's a force to reckoned with in gaming, and it's no secret that all Sony game systems benefit from having God of War on it. The highlights of the PSP's game library were definitely the two God of War games, so naturally I was very excited when I heard the two GoW games were being ported over the PS3. I've played both games on the PSP before, but ever since my aging PSP died on me, I was definitely bummed I would never be playing the two God of War PSP games. Rest assured, two of the PSP games are now available on the PS3, and they are better than ever.

First off, the games themselves. What exactly do these two new games offer for God of War fans? Are they worth the journey? The short answer is YES!!! (OK, that's pretty obvious, but read on anyway). (Minor Spoilers Ahead).

Both games have their own original plots, with CoO being a prequel to the whole series, and Ghost of Sparta being set after the second game. Both stories are well written and bring out entirely new elements and subtexts, filling out plenty of back story and developing the characters, especially Kratos. In particular, Ghost of Sparta does an amazing job at really setting the tone for the rest of series. More members of Kratos family appear, and it's the suffering and the negativity about that is caused by the gods, that really give an understanding of the agonizing ten years he spent serving the gods. It actually doesn't QUITE explain why Kratos went on a killing rampage in the beginning of the second game (it's actually because he was betrayed, in game, in the cell phone game God of War:Betrayal), but it really lingers on Kratos own suffering and more intimate feelings, really showing you as to WHY he's so pissed off. Chains of Olympus is an excellent prequel as well, highlighting the seemingly never-ending quest of serving the gods. At the end, it all comes to a deadly conclusion that would ultimately lead to the most harrowing journeys in video game history (at least for Kratos). In particular, the revelation near the end of the game is the light bulb moment if you always wondered why Kratos made the ultimate sacrifice at the very end of the series.

The games basically follow the same GoW formula, as you will perform combat, solve puzzles, execute quick-time events, and collecting red orbs in order to level up and gain new abilities. The same action-based, combo-stringing, combat is here and works as great as before. You will still gain access to awesome magic and weapons, including my favorite new weapon, the Arms of Sparta. You will be able to combine and use a single combat spear with a heavy duty shield. As a matter of fact, the two games contain some of my favorite magic and weapons. I also love the Djinn, which let's you summon a fire genie that pounds flames into the ground, and The Horn of Boreas let's you wield the name sake, with the ability to freeze enemies in a whirlwind of Ice and wind. However, I'll let you explore all of the new abilities yourself. The controls have also, actually, improved a bit thanks to the PS3 controller. The addition of rumble is a nice feature, and the the DualShock 3's extra buttons provide for easier controls as well (rolling with the analog stick, for one), since the PSP didn't have as many buttons.

Most of all though,those who LOVE the game series for it's awesome level design, excellent stories, great writing, emotional ability, and the GoW artistry will love these games. None of the games feel redundant; they are always fresh in it's execution of its world. From exploring the monumental Helios temple, exploring the Pits of Tartarus from the very deep, being present during the seize of the city of Attica, and watching the world crumble beneath a stone pillar, I've always played these games knowing exactly why I treat this game series the ways fantasy fans do The Lord of the Rings. You will not regret playing these games, as you will gain more insight into the unique GoW myth, understand the characters even more, and the God of War universe itself. After all, one main reason I play these games is because you love the art of the game, and all of the games here would be utterly indispensable to the series in my eyes. They are just that important to the series.

As you all wanted to know though, God of War Collection, besides giving a wider audience a chance to play these two games, is known for it's "remastered graphics". I am a huge gears of war fan that is why when i saw this, i didn't hesitate to order iit. It arrived 2 days after i placed my order(standard shipping even) the vinyl is high quality grade and the design is awesome. Easy to apply on my console (xbox xlim), it came with instructions but its pretty much useless so just go to youtube, a bunch of easy ways on how to apply vinyl wraps on your console. This is the next best thing to the limited edition gears of war xbox slim console and its way cheaper, just for looks that is. so if you are a gearhead or know someone who is a gearhead. Purchase this item. You won't be disappointed.
